Get the Look: Handsome Minimal Bedroom by Jenna Cadieux

design: Cadieux Design. photo: Jason Stickley via

Without a doubt that show-stopping king size four-poster bed is the focal point of this spacious suite designed by Jenna Cadieux of Cadieux Design in Oakville, Ont.. A canopy bed is a great choice for rooms with vaulted ceilings, since it instantly imparts a sense of intimacy by creating the effect of a room-within-a-room. Poster beds are also a great choice for rooms that lack architectural detail since they bring instant structure and drama. Add softness with fabric bed hangings, or leave the frame exposed, as Jenna did, for a more contemporary minimal look. Three-drawer chests are the right generous scale to flank this substantial bed and bring welcome storage. Jewel-like ring pulls and organic silver-leafed lamps add subtle notes of femininity to the handsome space. In the seating area, luscious blue velvet chairs and a tufted ottoman offer a welcome place your put your feet up after a long day to watch TV or the view. Hand-knotted wool area carpets help define each zone in the large floor plan and feel cozy underfoot.
